Thank you, Mom, for making sure I saw good movies...
Over on ONTD on LJ, there was a post talking about classic movies. And this was said:

A survey suggests 58% of men and 38% of women lie about having seen classic films.

They go on to tell how to bluff your way through having not seen:

1) The Godfather
2) Taxi Driver
3) Gone with the Wind
4) It's a Wonderful Life
5) The Great Escape
6) Citizen Kane

WHY!? OMG WHY?! SEE. THESE. MOVIES.

And the COMMENTS. People having not seen these movies say things like, "And I never would. Looks so boring." People hating on The Godfather... I swear, not starting arguments was SO HARD.

Someone commented and said, "Some Like It Hot, North by Northwest, Bringing Up Baby, and The Maltese Falcon are my faves. Oh, and On The Waterfront. (Plus, you know, The Godfather.)"

I wanted to reach through the computer and hug them. :D

It is a running joke at my house that I must have been raised under a rock, as I haven't seen... a whole lot of movies. It's gotten so bad that Brent and his best friend have taken to buying a ton of classic movies whenever they go out so that we can have movie nights. Of the ones you listed, I've only seen It's a Wonderful Life. Once.

... I think The Godfather looks boring. Even before you said that. *g* And. I saw Carol Burnett's version of GWTW, so does that count?

I do want to see 1776, though!

I am so not commenting on the if have/have not seen. Mostly cause, well... eh. It's me. I'd rather not get into a debate on things like that.

I have seen 1,2,3,5

I <3 old movies.

Did you know Gone with the Wind was written by a relative of Doc Holliday (through Mattie Holliday) and Melanie was inspired by Doc's cousin Sister Mary Melanie. (Mattie Holliday).

I've seen It's a Wonderful Life because you made me. And I've sat in the same room as The Godfather was playing in...does that count?

I've tried to sit down and watch Gone With The Wind and It's Wonderful Life. I've tried to.

Not sure if it's considered a classic, but I adore Twelve Angry Men with Henry Fonda. Also To Kill A Mocking Bird, and The Poseidon Adventure. (For someone who gloats about living in an antiques store? I really should watch more classic movies than I do.) We have an original movie poster for The African Queen somewhere downstairs.

And OMG, yes. Vespurrs? YOU HAVE TO SEE 1776. :D
